Venture Capital: Neva Sgr keeps growing and launches two new funds
Neva Sgr, the Intesa Sanpaolo Group's venture capital company, celebrates its fourth year of operations and launches the new Neva II and Neva II Italia funds: the aim is to invest in companies able to provide business solutions to global problems, with a capacity of €500 million, double that of the Neva First funds.
More specifically, the new funds target companies operating in sectors of priority importance for the future of the planet, such as:
- life sciences (e.g. in the medical field for the treatment of oncological and autoimmune diseases)
- energy transition
- digital transformation
- next-generation manufacturing and aerospace.
For the new funds, Neva Sgr has set the following new targets:
- Neva II, which aims at achieving final funding of around €400 million, will invest in highly innovative start-ups worldwide
- Neva II Italia, which plans to raise €100 million, will be dedicated to Italian companies.
"Neva started four years ago with €100 million provided by the bank and we have seen it work well; it is now well-known and much appreciated by the markets. Today, given the results achieved, we are convinced that the time has come to grow further. Neva is proof that it is possible, even in Italy, to invest in innovation while producing attractive results for investors”
Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, Chairman of Intesa Sanpaolo
Since August 2020, Neva Sgr has become a benchmark - not only in Italy - for venture capital dedicated to innovation, capable of generating a high return on capital. It has invested around €70 mln in more than 40 high-tech start-ups through its first three funds:
- Neva First for global investments, which closes the investment portfolio composition period today (one year early), with the first distribution of capital to subscribers
- Neva First Italia dedicated to national contexts, which completed its investment programmes on 30 June 2023 (two years ahead of schedule)
- Fondo SEI fully subscribed by the Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center and reserved for the support of Italian innovation ecosystems.
