Intesa Sanpaolo opens to the public at the Gallerie d'Italia - Naples the exhibition “Chi sei, Napoli?” (Who are you, Naples?) by French artist JR, renowed for his works that combine photography, public art and social commitment.

This is the eighth chapter of JR's “Chronicles” series, a monumental photographic project in Naples that has collected the portraits and stories of 606 citizens from different social and cultural backgrounds, offering a multifaceted portrait of the city: pizza makers, firemen, policemen, priests, writers, musicians, tourists, grandmothers, students... as well as the mayor himself.

The exhibition explores the creation and behind-the-scenes process of JR's work in Naples, which is transformed into a site-specific work on the façade of the city's cathedral, becoming a monumental photographic collage, a mosaic of local faces that embody the multifaceted spirit and soul of the Neapolitan capital.

"Chronicles” comes to Naples with the first installation of its kind in Italy - with the patronage of the City of Naples - following previous works in Clichy-Montfermeil (2017), San Francisco (2018), New York (2018), Miami (2022), Kyoto (2024), three American cities (Dallas, Saint Louis, and Washington DC) with a mural on the theme of guns in America (2018), and fifteen cities in Cuba (2019).

The Naples museum, along with those of MilanTurin and Vicenza, is part of Intesa Sanpaolo's Gallerie d’Italia museum project.

Open to the public from 22 May 2025 to 5 October 2025. For information, please visit the Gallerie d'Italia website.
