27 January 2026
Intesa Sanpaolo opens to the public at Gallerie d’Italia – Milan the exhibition Gianni Berengo Gardin. Giorgio Morandi’s Studio, one of the key focuses within the city-wide project Metafisica/Metafisiche, curated by Vincenzo Trione, also involving Palazzo Reale, Grande Brera-Palazzo Citterio and Museo del Novecento.
Part of the Metafisica/Metafisiche project
The exhibition is part of Metafisica/Metafisiche, a major cultural project exploring Metaphysics as an artistic movement and as an aesthetic and poetic framework that has influenced twentieth- and twenty-first-century visual culture, architecture, design, photography, cinema, theatre and literature.
Photographs of Giorgio Morandi’s studio
Displayed in the vault of Gallerie d’Italia are 26 photographs taken by Gianni Berengo Gardin in 1993, shortly before the dismantling of Giorgio Morandi’s studio in Bologna. The images portray a restrained and private workspace and, through everyday objects, establish a dialogue between photography and painting, conveying the formal rigour and intimate nature of the artist’s creative process.
Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment to culture
The exhibition is included in the Cultural Olympiad programme of the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The initiative highlights Intesa Sanpaolo’s commitment to supporting major cultural projects and enhancing access to artistic heritage.
Gallerie d’Italia – Milan, together with the venues in Turin, Naples and Vicenza, is part of Intesa Sanpaolo’s Gallerie d’Italia museum project.
The exhibition is open to the public from 28 January to 6 April 2026. For further information, please visit the Gallerie d’Italia website.
