7 April 2025
Neva SGR, a venture capital company of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, and the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation have chosen to invest €2.5 million in Galaxia, a national hub for technology transfer in the aerospace sector, launched by CDP Venture Capital and Obloo Ventures in 2023 to support the development of aerospace start-ups.
This investment helped Galaxia reach its fund-raising target of €30 million, which will enable it to invest in:
- upstream solutions (thrusters, rockets, satellites, sub-orbital vehicles, telemetry, control centres)
- downstream solutions (remote sensing, satellite communication and navigation, integrated applications)
- enabling technologies
- space-to-earth (spin-out) and earth-to-space (spin-in) technology transfer activities.
For Intesa Sanpaolo, the investment was made through Neva SGR's SEI (Innovation Ecosystems Development) Fund, which aims to support the growth of the Italian innovation ecosystem.
"With Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center, which has fully subscribed to our SEI Fund, we have agreed to invest in Galaxia to help support the promising Italian aerospace sector, an excellence that we consider to be highly strategic for the development of our country. This latest investment joins others already made with our Neva First funds in important Italian companies in the sector”
Mario Costantini, CEO and General Manager of Neva SGR
In addition, Intesa Sanpaolo Innovation Center - the Intesa Sanpaolo Group company that controls Neva SGR - participates in Galaxia as a Partner, providing expertise, resources and its network.
To date, Galaxia has completed 16 PoC and 16 seed investments for approximately €18 million.
The scientific promoters of Galaxia include the Polytechnic University of Turin and theSapienza University of Rome, the University of Padua and the Polytechnic University of Bari. The European Space Agency (ESA) and the Italian Space Agency (ASI) participate as Technical Advisors.
